"Ask a Priest" Blog

The Church is currently facing a drastic shift in terms of membership. Less people are attending Mass and less people would even go so far as to consider themselves Christians. According to the PEW Research Center, 75% of the people ages 64-74 in the United States who identify as Christian, only 38% attend their church on a monthly basis. That rate worsens as the age bracket lowers. Of individuals ages 18-24 just 46% consider themselves Christian and only 25% of them attend church monthly. There are plenty of studies that provide varying reasons for this decline from "religion being excluded from home", "newer generations leaving the pews", and a plethora of others. Regardless of what the reason is, one of the best resources for reconnecting or deepening your faith is experiencing the light of others.
