The Men’s Group offers a way to spend some quality time with other men of our parish. Meetings are held on the last Thursday evening of each month and typically include snacks, drinks, social time, and a speaker. Topics and activities will vary. The mission of the group is “Cultivating men of all ages to be committed disciples of Jesus Christ and better husbands, fathers, and men in our community.” The group is open to men who are 21 or older.
At the May 2021 meeting, speaker Gil Hannon shared his experience participating in the Ironman and how he experienced God and family support in times of joy and struggles. Following his presentation, the group talked about these two discussion questions:
- Can you recall a recent situation where you found yourself struggling, you where then able to call on Jesus and things became clearer and the struggle was manageable?
- Can you recall some recent sign in your path of life which you believe was meant for you; you followed the sign, and it led to a closer relationship with Jesus?
We look forward to meeting everyone!

THE STATE OF ILLINOIS FULLY REOPENED: June 11, 2021
What this means for St. Julie Billiart Parish:
This is great news! As we continue to more fully reopen, parishioners and visitors to St. Julie may be assured that we will continue to encourage practical precautions to keep everyone safe.
Following are the protocols we currently follow:
-
- Capacity. All capacity restrictions are lifted. We are free to resume 100% capacity for Masses and other events.
- Registration. Registration for Mass is no longer required.
- Hand sanitizer. Continues to be available in church.
- Masks. No longer required, but public health authorities recommend that those who are unvaccinated continue to wear a mask indoors and observe safety distance. We will not require proof of vaccination.
- Church entrances. All entrances are now open, including the west doors.
- Physical distancing. No longer required, but is recommended by public health authorities for those who are unvaccinated. The blue tape used this past year to mark pew seating has been removed, except for sections near the choir space, which is set aside for those who wish to continue physical distancing.
- Congregational singing. Singing at Mass is back!
- Communion reception on the tongue. Reception on the tongue is now available again, though this will currently be limited to distribution from the priests and deacons only, in sections 3 and 4/5 on both the north and south sides of the church. If you choose to receive communion this way, please sit in one of those sections.
- 9:30am Sunday Mass livestream will continue. Those who are not feeling well will continue to be asked to stay at home, where they will still be able to watch St. Julie’s Sunday morning Mass livestream at 9:30am.
- Mass dispensation. Currently, dispensation from attendance at Sunday Mass is still in effect for the Archdiocese of Chicago for those who are unable to attend in person.
The Renew My Church process for parishes in the Orland/Tinley grouping has now been completed. On May 11, 2021, the Archdiocese of Chicago announced the decision of Cardinal Cupich that all seven parishes in the grouping will remain in their current structure. There will be no closings or unifications.
CLICK HERE to read the formal statement from the Archdiocese of Chicago.
Parishes in the Orland/Tinley Renew My Church grouping are as follows:
Our Lady of the Woods
St. Elizabeth Seton
St. Francis of Assisi
St. George
St. Julie Billiart
St. Michael
St. Stephen, Deacon and Martyr

Safety Guidelines
These safety precautions should be observed at all times:
- If you are not feeling well, we ask that you stay home as a precaution.
- Masks are a must for everyone’s safety. They must be worn properly over the nose and mouth.
- Households may sit together but should be six feet from the next person. Households are defined as those who live together every day. Extended family and friends who do not live with you must safety distance (6 ft.) themselves from you while in our worship space.
- Pews that are marked by blue tape may be used.
- Please plan on arriving no sooner than 30 minutes and no later than the start of Mass; this will allow us time to ensure all preparation is completed. This will also allow our volunteers to fully participate in the Mass.
- If you have attended large gatherings in the last week where safety precautions have not been taken, we ask that you take a week off from Mass in person and participate via Facebook or our parish website.
- For those who are not able to sign up via internet, please contact Sheila at 708.429.6767 x232. Leave your name, phone number and the Mass you would like to attend. We will only call back if there is an issue with your reservation.
We appreciate your help in keeping everyone safe and healthy.
We Love Volunteers!
We cannot do without our wonderful volunteers and also don’t feel it’s right to ask the same people to serve at multiple masses each weekend. Can you help? ALL AGES ARE WELCOME!
If you would like to volunteer to assist the Reopen Team, please email Deacon Ed at [email protected] or [email protected]
God bless,
Deacon Ed and Sheila
