Taste of Italy

...
Did You Get Enough to Eat?
The Taste of Italy (2007) is now just a pleasant memory. If you attended,
I hope you found your plate to be more than adequate—I hope you went away
filled up with the tasty treats of salad, pasta, meatballs and dessert!
We served close to 1000 people (again)! Thanks to Marie Letz who oversaw
all the cooking and food preparation, and thanks to all the dedicated
kitchen staff, servers, bakers, bartenders, bussers, salad room crew,
dessert room organizers, supply room scufflers and raffle sellers. Thanks
also to Jennifer Zamora who organized the volunteers who worked the day of
the event.
An absolutely huge and spectacular (fireworks?) thank you to Neal, the
owner of Salina’s Pizza and Catering, located at the corner of 171st
Street and 88th Avenue. The Taste of Italy has gotten too big for us to be
able to use our own very small kitchen in the Devine Center to prepare for
the event. Instead, Neal graciously allows St. Julie to use his kitchens
and equipment to prepare the almost 3000 homemade meatballs, tons of
spaghetti sauce and loads of pasta that we end up serving each year.
Next time your family is planning its own event (or when you want a
pizza), please consider Salina’s. You can check out what they have to
offer at
www.CateringBySalinas.com!

Look for it again in 2008
How much do you love Italian cooking? Well,
each year on a Sunday in March Fr. Steve makes you realize how much you
do, by cooking dinner. We have an Italian dinner in honor of St. Joseph in
the Devine Center. There is continuous seating from 1:00 - 5:00 p.m. so he
can feed everyone!
The cost of the dinner is nominal, and
includes: salad, pasta & meatballs, rolls and unbelievable desserts from
our beautiful St. Joseph Table. Our guests are seated and served by
volunteers.
Each year Fr. Steve feeds over a thousand
people on this day.
It is an opportunity to gather at table
with other families of the parish and enjoy a good meal and the
fellowship of your parish community.
