SHAWL MINISTRY

The mission of the Shawl Ministry is to hand knit/crochet shawls in prayer for our parishioners who are in need of comfort and solace or for those celebrating life's joys. Prayer shawls are given to celebrate life, friendship and connection. Prayer shawls have been given to people who are in need of physical and psychological healing, to parishioners moving from our parish, to couples getting married and to people in transition. Our prayer shawls are available at no cost to the recipient.

In its first year of ministry, over 125 prayer shawls have been made in prayer! Shawl Ministers demonstrate the true spirit of stewardship by sharing their time, talents and treasures. Time: Each shawl takes between 20-40 hours to create, which equates to 20-40 hours of prayerful meditation. In addition, shawls are delivered by our ministers who visit the recipient and offer a blessing appropriate for the occasion. Talent: Each shawl is unique and created by the ministers with their own personal choice of yarn and embellishments, such as prayer medals. Treasure: It costs approximately $35 for each shawl to be created, embellished and delivered, all at no cost to our parish. The total financial contribution this past year made by the individual members of the Shawl Ministry exceeds $4,375!
