Baptism

 Baptism, the first Sacrament of the church, initiates us into the Body of Christ ... into His life, Death and His Resurrection. It is the essential sacrament in becoming a disciple of Christ and indelibly marks us as His.

This sacrament is the essential prerequisite for all the others.

As a Sacrament which joins the baptizes to the Body of Christ, it is appropriate that it be celebrated in the presence of and with the participation of the members of the Body at mass when all are present to welcome the new member. 

Preparation for Baptism

Parents of infants.
Infant baptism requires that the parents be prepared to educate the child in their faith. The parents attend these sessions prior to the baptism of their child. Specific information is found at the "Baptism Prep" link at the left.

School age children.
Children are prepared for Baptism through a process similar to RCIA. Arrangements can be made through our Religious Formation office.

Adults
Adults prepare for baptism through the Rite of Christian Imitation for Adults. (RCIA)
