Who can't ...
pay the utility bills,
pay the rent,
make the car payments,
buy food or clothing,
pay the medical bills ...
Due to ...
the loss of a job or too small a pay check,
the loss, or illness, of the breadwinner,
family disaster of any kind ...
Then contact the St. Vincent de Paul Society through the parish office.
There is assistance available with dignity and confidentiality.
Call (708) 429-6767 and ask that a St. Vincent de Paul ministry member contact you.
There are times when we just can't do it alone.
St. Vincent de Paul is an organization that is helping our parishioners in need. When a request for aid comes into the rectory, two SVDP members visit the family to assess immediate need. Food certificates and emergency aid are given as needed. At the next scheduled meeting the problem is discussed and a determination is made of how future help can be delivered. Our volunteers assure confidentiality for anyone seeking assistance.

Society of St. Vincent de Paul
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is an international Catholic organization of lay persons, founded in 1833 by Frederic Ozanam and his companions. In the spirit of justice and charity, its members seek to help those who are in need.
Members of our parish who wish to contact the St. Vincent de Paul Society may do so by calling the rectory and requesting that a member of the Society come visit them.
(708) 429-6767
You can participate in the works of this organization with your frequent donations. The "Poor Boxes" are located in the wall near the narthex exits. (Ask the usher to move out of the way if necessary.) You are also welcome to become a member of this rewarding ministry. Read on ...
Funds for SVDP come from parishioners' donations. Members are able to help as much as funding allows. Extraordinary needs have sometimes practically depleted the funds. However, most of the time, due to the extreme generosity of St. Julie parishioners, St. Vincent de Paul members have been able to help up to 50 parishioners annually with utility bills, rent, emergency prescriptions, and other needs.
Present membership of the society totals six: Phelim Henry, President; Brian McCleish, Vice President; Mary Kay Geary, Secretary; Geri Gestaut, treasurer; and members Maureen and Gene Sherry.
New members are always welcome. "The more hands the lighter the burden and all the better we can serve parishioners in a time of need," commented one current member. She continued, "The ministry has been extremely fulfilling and with each new family we meet our awareness of the good in all of God's people becomes more evident".
For more information please call the rectory. Scheduled meetings are held every other Monday at 7 pm and usually last 35 - 40 minutes.

A Challenge
Once upon eternity
Above the clouds so high,
There were some chosen Angels
Who had no wings to fly;
Their hands were made for helping,
Their hearts were tender, too,
Their smiles were warm and happy
And glowed as haloes do;
So God sent down these angels,
Because they are such dears,
To spread their gentle love on earth;
We call them volunteers.
The St. Vincent de Paul Society is a group of individuals working together to alleviate suffering in our community. We provide emergency short-term material assistance to those in need who contact our rectory. A team consisting of two members visit with the individual or the family and ascertain their needs. If the situation demands immediate action, we assist those in need with food, clothing, referral information and at times we even help pay a bill.
We visit older or infirm people at home to be sure that their basic needs are being met. We also visit those in hospitals and nursing homes. We are under the patronage of the good St. Vincent de Paul, the saint who knew so well how to join prayer and action in fervent charity. We sincerely believe the need to: "Enfold the world in a network of charity. " If you would be interested in joining this wonderful ministry please contact the rectory and a member of the society will be happy to give you a call.
Please contact the rectory for further details.

Thanks!
Because you are concerned ... .......
This is a note of appreciation. Our thank you is a simple but sincere
statement. You are being thanked by the poor and the needy for food,
clothing, medicine, and other needs you are supplying. The St. Vincent de
Paul Society thanks you for allowing us to be a channel of your
almsgiving.
"The Poor Boxes are the Bread Boxes of the Needy."
The work of the St. Vincent de Paul Society is the Gospel message in action.
I was hungry,
I was thirsty,
I was a stranger,
I was naked,
I was sick,
I was in prison.
... And you cared.
