The Human Concerns Board

WHAT THE HUMAN CONCERNS BOARD IS ALL ABOUT

The Human Concerns Ministries seek to empower parishioners to fulfill the social justice, ecumenical and service mission of the Church. We focus on the needs of the poor, the disabled, the marginal and the fragile. Our task is to assure that all people are invited to full participation in the Church and in society. These tasks include developing an attitude in the Church and in our society which:

  • Promotes a fundamental respect for the dignity of all persons regardless of race, color, gender or creed.

  • Advances a social environment, which is hospitable toward all persons, particularly the poor and the marginalized.

  • Encourages the promotion and preservation of human dignity and solidarity.

All of these works are accomplished for the purpose of building the Kingdom of God as
proclaimed in the Gospel message and reflected in the theology of Vatican II.

Our vision for the future is to continue to reach out to the sick and homebound, the poor and bereaved, children born and unborn and adults who have special needs. We also continue to act as intercessors of prayer for all the needs of our parish and the world. We seek to meet these needs in a spirit of Christian faith, rooted in prayerful spirituality and grounded in the theology of the Catholic Church.

Deacon Mike Kiley

The Human Concerns Ministries

  • Baking Ministry
We have a “Baking Ministry” here at St. Julie that supplies baked goods for various church functions.

  • Bereavement Ministry
The ministry reaches out to those parishioners who have suffered the death of a loved one.

  • Breaking Bread
The ministry offers a service that provides home cooked dinners to parishioners who are in short-term need of meals.

  • Health Ministry
The ministry seeks to facilitate optimal well being for all parishioners.

  • Inclusion Awareness
Inclusion Awareness challenges us to notice how our congregation welcomes persons with disabilities and differences. Our patron saint is a perfect example of the achievements made by someone despite physical limitations.

  • Ministers of Care
The Ministers of Care bring the Eucharist to the sick and the homebound of the parish on a weekly basis.

  • Ministry of Praise
The Ministry of Praise is a spiritual ministry in which individuals offer their prayers, sufferings, joys and sorrows to God for the salvation of souls.

  • Our Lady's PrayerLine
Devotion to Mary with Scriptural Rosary after the weekday Mass and  special devotions to her Son in the Eucharist

  • Pro-Life Ministry
The Pro-Life Ministry is dedicated to and guided by the Catholic Church’s wisdom, as reflected in the catechism of the faith, that from cradle to grave, all life must be respected and honored.

  • Sharing Ministry
The Sharing Ministry was established as a bridge to maintain a closer relationship with the parishioners of Our Lady of Peace Parish, located at 79th and Jeffrey Blvd. in Chicago.

  • Shawl Ministry
The mission of the St. Julie Billiart Shawl Ministry is to create shawls in prayer and to deliver shawls in prayer to those individuals needing comfort and solace and to those celebrating life’s joys.

  • St. Vincent de Paul Society
Members of the St. Vincent de Paul Society assist those in our parish boundaries when a family is in need.
